The Yellow Wallpaper â⬠Charlotte Perskin Gilman. ââ¬ÅThe Yellow
The Yellow Wallpaper ââ¬â Charlotte Perskin Gilman ââ¬Å"The Yellow Wallpaperâ⬠by Charlotte Perskin Gilman stated that the erroneous of ââ¬Å"rest cueâ⬠treatment method of the husband ââ¬â the theraphy physician, which leads the wife insane. The ââ¬Å"rest cueâ⬠method that the patient have to ââ¬Å"take phosphates or phosphites whichever it is, and tonics, and journey, and air, and exerciseâ⬠(Gilman 308) and they are ââ¬Å"absolutely forbidden to workâ⬠until they are well again which is described by the narrator and this method is the reason why the narrator from a normal woman increases depressing and stress day by day until she is insane. At the beginning of the story, the narrator described where her treatment as ââ¬Å"the haunted houseâ⬠. She feels something strangeâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦But John would not hear of itâ⬠(Gilman 308). ââ¬â ââ¬Å"I wonder ââ¬â I begin to think ââ¬â I wish John would take me away from hereâ⬠(Gilman 314). She said she would hate herself if she had to live in the treatment room long ââ¬Å"the paint and paper look as if a boysââ¬â¢ school had used it. It is tripped off-the paper- in great patches all around the head of my bed, about as far as I can reach, and in a great place on the other side of the room low down. I never saw a worse paper in my lifeâ⬠ââ¬â ââ¬Å"the color is repellantâ⬠ââ¬â ââ¬Å"a smoldering unclear yellow, strangely faded by slow-turning sunlight. It is a dull yet lurid orange in some places, a sickly Sulphur tint in others.â⬠ââ¬â ââ¬Å"I should hate it myself if I had to live in this room longâ⬠(Gilman 309). The treatment doesnââ¬â¢t help reduce her stressful and depression. She feels worse than before. She doesnââ¬â¢t feel like writing before since she moved into the yellow wallpaper ââ¬â a nursery room. Besides, she is abandoned because her husband away all day. The lonely fe eling make her ââ¬Å"nervous troubles are dreadfully depressingâ⬠(Gilman 309). Preventing from moving and working treatment and focusing on resting and being alone is a wrong treatment method. The narrator gets tired and tired every day and is more nervous because she just feels like ââ¬Å"a comparative burdenâ⬠to her husband. One more time, the husband rejects her feeling ââ¬â she want get out of the house to feel the fresh air and meet people around which makes she feels relax and happy ââ¬â ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m
